The legal bits, in plain language.

Everything below is written to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it.

Important disclaimer: this is not therapy

Please read this before you buy. The Therapist's Year planners, The Therapist Companion Journal, and everything on this website are educational and reflective tools. They are not therapy, not clinical supervision, and not medical or mental health treatment or advice.

These products are created and sold by loam & light collective LLC. Janika is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and she wrote this material drawing on that experience. She wrote it as an author and publisher, not in her capacity as a treating clinician, and not on behalf of any employer or practice.

No therapist and client relationship is created

Buying, reading, or using these products does not create a therapist and client relationship, a supervisor and supervisee relationship, or any other professional relationship between you and Janika or loam & light collective LLC. Nothing here is individualized advice about your practice, your clients, your licensure, or your health.

Not a substitute for professional care or supervision

Reflection prompts and growth activities are not a replacement for your own therapy, your clinical supervision, consultation, legal advice, or medical care. If you are working toward licensure, your supervisor and your state licensing board are the authorities on your requirements. We describe general practice, and requirements differ by state, by license type, and over time. Always verify licensure requirements with your own board. Hour tracking tools we provide are organizational aids, and you remain responsible for the accuracy of anything you submit to a board.

No guaranteed outcomes

We do not promise any particular result: not reduced burnout, not improved wellbeing, not faster licensure, not better clinical work. What you get from a reflective tool depends on you and on circumstances outside our control.

If you are in crisis

Please do not rely on a planner. In the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day. You can also text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line, or call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room if you are in immediate danger.

Therapists need care too. Reaching for it is not a failure of competence.

Orders, shipping, preorders and refunds

Preorders

If an item is sold as a preorder, that is stated clearly on the product page. When you preorder, your card is charged at checkout, not when the item ships, and the shipping date is stated on the product page and in your confirmation email.

If we cannot ship by the date we advertised, we will email you before that date with a revised date and the option to cancel for a full refund. If you do not want to wait, you do not have to. Refunds for cancelled preorders are issued to your original payment method promptly, and within seven business days for card payments.

Shipping

Physical orders ship within the United States. Shipping is calculated at checkout, and orders leave us within two business days. Once an order ships, you will get a confirmation email with tracking. Delivery times after shipment are up to the carrier and are not something we control.

We are not responsible for delays, loss, or damage caused by the carrier once a package leaves us, but we will help you chase it. If a package arrives damaged, email us with photos within 14 days and we will make it right.

Planners are final sale

Planners are not returnable or refundable. They are dated tools people write in, and we cannot resell a returned copy. Please read the descriptions, watch the walkthrough video, and flip through the sample pages before you order, so you know exactly what you are buying.

If your planner arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered, we will make it right. Email loamlightco@gmail.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the problem, and we will send a replacement or refund it.

Digital products are final sale

Digital planners and The Therapist Companion Journal are delivered by email immediately after purchase, and are non-refundable. This is stated at the point of sale, because once a file is downloaded it cannot be returned. If a file does not arrive, will not open, or is the wrong file, tell us and we will fix it or refund it.

Apparel

Shirts are made to order by a print on demand partner. Because each one is printed for you, we cannot accept returns or exchanges for size or change of mind. Please check the size guide before ordering. If an item arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered, email loamlightco@gmail.com within 30 days with photos and we will replace or refund it.

For any order problem, email loamlightco@gmail.com with your order number and photos if something arrived damaged. We answer within a few business days.

Terms of sale and use

These terms are an agreement between you and loam & light collective LLC ("we", "us"), covering this website at loamlightco.com and everything we sell. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them.

Orders and payment

Checkout is handled by Shopify. We never see or store your full card details. Prices are in US dollars. We may correct pricing or description errors and cancel an affected order with a full refund. Placing an order is an offer to buy; our confirmation email accepts it.

What you may do with digital products

When you buy a digital planner or journal, you get a personal, non-transferable licence to download it, print it for your own use, and use it in your own practice and reflection. You do not own the copyright.

You may not resell, share, distribute, upload, or republish the files; sell or give away printed copies; use the content to create a competing product; or use it for commercial training or group distribution without our written permission.

Distributing pages to your own clients: please ask us first. We are usually happy to say yes, and we would rather grant permission than find pages circulating without attribution.

Our content

All text, photographs, page designs, the Wisdom and Reflection Stories, and the site itself are owned by loam & light collective LLC and protected by copyright. "The Therapist's Year", "The Therapist Companion Journal", and the loam & light collective name and mark are ours. Please do not copy them.

Acceptable use

Do not use this site to break the law, infringe anyone's rights, scrape or copy it wholesale, or interfere with how it works.

Limitation of liability

We provide this site and these products as they are. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or the products, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the product the claim concerns. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Please read the disclaimer above as part of these terms. It is incorporated by reference.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Texas.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force for your order is the one published when you placed it. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.

Privacy policy

Short version: this website itself collects almost nothing. Your order information is handled by Shopify, and we treat what we do hold carefully.

What this website collects

Browsing loamlightco.com does not require you to give us anything.

  • No cookies are set by this website.
  • No analytics, no advertising pixels, no third party trackers. We do not know who you are or where you came from.
  • The walkthrough video is hosted by us, so watching it does not report you to anyone.
  • If you enter your email to join the launch list, we collect that email address and use it only to email you about the launch and occasional notes. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and reliability.

What happens when you buy something

Checkout runs on Shopify. When you order, Shopify collects the information needed to complete the sale: your name, email, shipping and billing address, and payment details. Payment details go to the payment processor, not to us. We can see your order, your contact details, and your shipping address so we can send you your planner and help with problems.

loam & light collective LLC is responsible for that customer information, and Shopify processes it for us. Shopify's own privacy practices are described in Shopify's privacy policy. If you pay with Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, or Venmo, that provider handles your payment under its own policy.

Shirts are fulfilled by a print on demand partner, so we pass them the name and shipping address needed to send your order.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and warranty reasons. Email subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email loamlightco@gmail.com and we will respond. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under state privacy law, and we will honour those.

Security

Payment and order data sits inside Shopify's systems, which are built for it. No system is perfect, and we will tell you if something happens that affects you.

Accessibility statement

We want every therapist to be able to use this site.

It is built and tested to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA and WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the current version of the standard. It works with a keyboard alone, is readable by screen readers, meets AA colour contrast, respects reduced motion settings, gives every control a target at least 24 by 24 pixels, and the walkthrough video is captioned with a downloadable transcript.

Last reviewed: 24 August 2026. We test with automated audits at desktop and mobile sizes, by hand, and again after every change to the site.

We know automated testing only catches part of the picture. If anything here is hard to use, or you need something in a different format, tell us. We will fix it, and we will get you what you need in the meantime.
